22-year-old Yasmina Frej came to us for a month internship recently. She has just completed her degree in Graphic Communication at Birmingham City University (BCU), where Kingsley – our founder – is a guest lecturer.
At Kingel, it’s really important to us that we inspire and nurture the creative talent of the future.
It was just after lockdown that Kingsley met Yasmina, after she organised an event called ‘The VisCom Showcase Event’. 50 students and lecturers attended Yasminas’ event and Kingsley was one of them.
Kingsley said: “I was really impressed by the event Yasmina organised. We had only just come out of lockdown and we had all been starved of human interaction and connecting with each other. Yasmina decided to do something proactive about it and organised a fab event which I spoke at. The topic I talked about was ‘Tips for students starting out in the industry’.”
Yasmina was on Kingsley’s radar then and when it came to her final year dissertation on the topic of ‘An investigation into Saudi Arabian branding and advertising’, he put her in touch with our Agency Director, Gareth who had lived in Dubai for some years. Gareth helped Yasmina by giving her live briefs to work on and practice her creativity on.
Yasmina talking at the event she organised post covid lockdown to help students gain some tips for tips for starting out in the industry.
Yasmina said; “Both Kingsley and Gareth were so supportive and encouraging. They really helped me by mentoring me and giving strategic direction and ideas. I have been given a 4-week paid internship which has been the most brilliant experience. I have learnt so much and I love the family vibe at the agency.”
Kingsley is a regular visiting lecturer at BCU and he has a good eye for fresh, new talent. Rosie, our Art Director and Adam, our Creative Producer were spotted by Kingsley whilst they studied at the University.
If you’re interested in working for Kingel, why not drop us a line. We’re always up for meeting ‘up and coming’ talent.
