Empowering Health Innovation
Life sciences and health tech are a serious business for the University of Birmingham. When completed, its Birmingham Health Innovation Campus will become a world-leading hub for life sciences businesses. The focal point of the BHIC is the new Precision Health Technologies Accelerator, a facility designed to bring together a new generation of clinical entrepreneurs and academics. The University asked us to create a brand that reflected the PHTA’s inspirational status.

Collaborations between science and academia can often feel complex and impenetrable. The client wanted the opposite of that, so we developed a modern, fresh identity that mirrored the high-end nature and innovative aspects of the brand, while also building on the idea of ‘coming together’ that the PHTA is all about.
A brand guidelines document was developed detailing the use of brand elements across all touch points.
We continued our fresh approach across the brand’s website, using vivid and unexpected colours alongside simple messaging and a relaxed tone of voice that used the language of entrepreneurship over academia, making the PHTA’s serious and complex offer easy to understand and digest.
The brand roll-out included a full stationery suite, brochures and templates for social media posts
